Hello, how are you today? Welcome to our ‘about’ page. Thank you for visiting us.
Earththings was established in Elland, Halifax, West Yorkshire in 1993. Back then it was owned by a lady called Annette who had a couple of shops, with one in Halifax. But the hub of the business was in Elland on Southgate.
I worked for Earththings as a school girl and loved the shop so much, in 2022 I bought it from Annette, who had retired to live abroad. We moved the business to 69 Huddersfield Road, Elland, Halifax for greater exposure to footfall and passing trade.
A constant in the life of Earththings Florist is April Thorley, our lovely fully qualified florist. April is one of the most committed individuals we know. She lives for Earththings, having been an ever present since the day the shop opened – well almost anyway!
We have three other team members, John, our super delivery driver, Kelly our second florist in the shop and the lovely Christine who is training with us currently. All are super customer focused as we supply flowers as far away as Denby Dale and Queensbury in Bradford. And we do it without a delivery charge using the same industry standard to decide volume of flowers in each bouquet.
So delivery REALLY IS FREE!!
We can provide this value because rather than rent our premises we bought it. So we have less overheads and that investment allows us to ensure your bouquets are brimming with flowers. Scroll through our website and you’ll see them all.
Our awards for Floristry in Yorkshire
We specialise in Weddings and Funerals. For weddings we ensure the bride is kept informed of progress and given every possible detail as to the make up of her selections and we provide on the spot examples of what bouquets will look like to help them visualise the flowers on their big day. We have travelled as far as North Yorkshire to help our clients but most of our trade is around the Halifax (Calderdale), Huddersfield (Kirklees) and Bradford areas. As you may know already, in 2023 we won the Yorkshire Florist of the Year and West Yorkshire Wedding Florist of the year. We also won business of the month at Eaton Smith Solicitors.
In 2024 we again won the Yorkshire Florist of the year and again won the West Yorkshire Wedding Florist of the Year. We are also nominnated and came second in the retail business of the year with the Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
Our awards are testament to the team’s hard work, not only in producing stunning arrangements, but to the customer service we offer. That simply can’t be replicated because we go out of our way to ensure our lovely customers expectations are surpassed. Every single time.
April is a super talented qualified florist. The funeral tributes she produces for our clients are second to none. There are options for customers nowadays and so we very clearly position ourselves as providing quality and ensuring sprays and tributes are full of flowers with no gapping nor bare spaces where flowers should be. April has made everything from an Elephant to a beer can out of flowers. Go on, challenge her, she will rise to it every time.
We have some exciting news to share about 2025 that we can’t release just yet but the business is expanding. We can’t wait to tell you what this is, but until the ink is dry we can’t share. So watch this space!
Some of our press cuttings for you to review. It is all about the quality of what we do and our levels of customer service.
