Looking after your Phalaenopsis Orchid
These orchids are surprisingly easy to care for when placed in the right environment.
Light
Phalaenopsis orchids enjoy bright, indirect light. A windowsill that doesn’t receive strong midday sun is ideal.
Temperature
They prefer warm, stable indoor temperatures, ideally between 18–25°C. Avoid placing them near radiators, draughts, or cold windows.
Watering
Water around once a week, allowing water to drain fully through the pot. Orchids prefer to dry slightly between watering, so avoid letting them sit in water.
Humidity
Orchids enjoy a little humidity. A kitchen or bathroom with natural light can be perfect, or you can place the pot on a tray with pebbles and a little water (without the pot sitting directly in the water).
After flowering
Once the flowers fade, the plant can flower again with the right care. Many orchids rebloom from the same stem or grow a new one over time.
A Phalaenopsis orchid is a gift that keeps giving – elegant, long-lasting, and a beautiful reminder of nature indoors.
